Write your scenes like a photograph.
We see life through the lens of our own photography. What we see, we experience deeply, or not at all.
And what we experience deeply or not at all should make us care about the subject matter in front of us.
When looking at the photograph of the life in front of you, what do you
See?
Feel?
Taste?
Touch?
Hear?
If your world is gray, perhaps you see gloomy clouds, drooping flowers, or limp grass. If your world is colorful, do the clouds expand across the sky in sheer white glory? Do the flowers wink joy? Does the grass wave in adoration of all that’s above it?
The warmth might soften through your skin on a sultry day. The breeze that plays with the tendrils of your hair promises the coming rain. The excited shouts from the children romping across the street as they splash through puddles.
News from afar leaves a metallic taste in your mouth. A juicy apple bursts delight. Soft kisses increase your desire.
The keys press cold in your hand. Her tiny chocolate-covered fingers pull at your hair. Vibrations course through your body.
Thunder claps, shaking the ground. Rain pelts the windowpane like a thousand dimes falling to the floor. His words slap inside your ears. The gentle coo from your little one brings a smile.
What thoughts come to mind when viewing life through your own lens? How does your experience transform your perception?
