I grew up fixing things.
calling customer service when the internet blipped
[dial-up in those days]
sorting socks and wrangling the feisty ones from the dryer
[IYKYK]
mending the pasture fence
[the horses seemed to always find that one open spot]
So it was natural that I landed a career fixing books.
redlining what didn't work
greenlighting what did
What I did not realize was that...
authors needed help with their stories
[writing a book was no small feat]
authors needed time to navigate heavier pieces
[memoir is especially notorious for this]
authors needed to feel safe
[sharing your baby with someone else takes courage]
So I learned...
to be patient
to be present
to be perceptive
to simply listen
...before giving advice
...before sharing a strategy
Your book is a treasure.
Your book is a gift.
Your book is to be handled with care.
---> how can I meet you where you're at right now in your writing process?
